There’s always something to learn from people engaged in clandestine activity. A good example is this article on the Mexican Mafia. One of the quotes in here really stands out as a great lesson on OPSEC.

This is from a tapped phone conversation between a number of Mexican Mafia leaders discussing their illegal activities:

"So we all got to be careful, man, about what's going on, because you got a lot of us that are doing a lot of things... What we're involved [in], we can't keep nothing quiet. It's not that we, we're not trying. It's the nature of the thing, the business, homes."

When there are a lot of people involved in secret activity, it is very hard to keep secret. And the more it interacts with society the harder it is to keep secret.
